The following list contains 11 websites that I use constantly to find my ancestors or gather clues to break my brick walls. If you are not using them you are missing out.
- Somos Primos – Is dedicated to past and present articles, events and information concerning Hispanic heritage issues. They post form time to time great articles about South Texas and Northeastern Mexico Genealogy and some transcriptions. It is also home to research of John Inclan, wich has thousands of names in over 60 descendant family trees.
- The Genealogy Of Mexico – Gary Felix’s website about the early settlers of Mexico and History, many other resources too. This website is an authority in Mexican Genealogy.
- Nuestros Ranchos – This website focuses only on the Genealogy of Jalisco, Zacatecas and Aguascalientes.
- Guadalajara Dispensas – Lists of names extracted from the Matrimonial Dispensations in the archives of the Catholic Diocese of Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico, 17th, 18th & 19th Centuries. Includes the states of Coahuila, Nuevo Leon, Tamaulipas, and Texas
- Raul Longoria – Family website of Raul Longoria with deep roots in South Texas and Mexico. Excellent resource for anyone researching their South Texas or Northeastern Mexico Ancestry, but also contains information on ancestors from all over Mexico and other countries.
- FamilySearch – Best genealogy website ever for it’s extensive browsable online documents of Mexican birth, death, and marriage records both from the church and the civil government. Not just great for Mexican Genealogy but great for Genealogy in any country.
- Google – Yes that is right Google is my favorite search engine to look fir ancestors. Just make sure to put your ancestors names between “quotes” .
- Mexico GENWeb – Mexico Home page for the GEN Web project. It contains many great resources.
- Hispanic Genealogy – Contains some good stuff about Mexican Genealogy, unfortunately seems that it has not been updated in a while.
- Mexico Genealogy Forum – GenForum by Genealogy.com, excellent place to post inquiries about Mexican Genealogy and or search for ancestors. I love this one since I find clues from many users that can always be verified.
- Raul N. Longoria’s Genealogy Database – This is the database of Raul Longoria and contains thousands of names from all over Mexico.
