Governors of the Province of Nuevo Santander Present Day Tamaulipas Mexico and South Texas

Many of our ancestors lived in the Spanish province of Nuevo Santander and some even helped forge it with their own resources and hard work. Nuevo Santander is now present-day Tamaulipas, Mexico and South Texas was founded by José de Escandón and named for his native province in Spain. It was designated as a province by viceregal order on September 3, 1746.
