Last Names of Nuevo Leon

This is the February 23, 1707 marriage dispensation of my 8th great grandparents Clemente de la Garza and Josefa Catalina de la Garza. The dispensation was created in Monterrey Nuevo Leon, Mexico. Last week I shared with you their church marriage record and mentioned that it was very important since it provided me with a second place where to look for their parents.

Once I knew that there was a marriage dispensation I looked for it on the book “Sagrada Mitra de Guadalajara Antiguo Obispado De La Nueva Galicia” by Maria de la Luz Montejano Hilton. I found it on page 572.

Here is what I found:

Now What

I need to search for the original dispensation for my own records, but after reading this extract I then looked at the book “Origen de los Apellidos Garza y Treviño en Nuevo Leon” by Tomas Mendirichaga Cueba. There on page 43 I found the information that I needed  to find the grandparents of Josefa, whom I had yet to find.

Hope you found this information as interesting as I did. Let me know what you think about it on the message section right below.
