This is the marriage of my 8th great grandparents Clemente de la Garza Falcon and Josefa Catalina de la Garza whom got married in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico back in July 6, 1707. This document is very important and valuable since it mentions that there was a marriage dispensation due to them being related. As you will see this record does not mention their parents but fortunately for me I was able to locate an extraction of the marriage dispensation. I will share it next week on it’s own blog post. Turns out that the parents of Clemente are Sargento Mayor Francisco de la Garza and Doña Leonor de Renteria. The parents of Josefa are Francisco de La Garza and Gertrudis de Ochoa.

Can anyone clarify Josepha Gonzalez Hidalgo?
I have 2 on my Family Tree. The first one I have is the above mentioned:
Joseph Elias GARZA, christened 24 Jun 1708 in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico. He married (1) on 15 Jun 1738 in Cadereyta Jimenez, Nuevo Leon, Mexico Maria Josefa GONZALEZ HIDALGO, daughter of Capitan Marcos GONZALEZ HIDALGO and Maria Tomasa CANTU; (2) on 9 Jan 1741 in Cadereyta Jimenez, Nuevo Leon, Mexico Maria Antonia QUINTANILLA, daughter of Bartolome QUINTANILLA and Maria Francisca CANTU
The second one I have is married to Jose Santiago Salvador Canales Benavides, son of Capt. Blas Canales Montemayor and Maria Baez de Benavides y de los Reyes and I don’t know who this Josepha Gonzalez Hidalgo’s parents are. Various internet searches come up with her as the first one but obviously this cannot be the same person.
The only source that I have is the book “Alonso de Leon Sus Descendientes” by Guillermo Garmendia Leal. He lists both of them under the family of Marcos Gonzalez and Tomasa Cantu. one as Josepha Gonzalez and the other as Maria Josepha Gonzalez. It could be that it is the same person married twice but I am assuming that he did not find proof that it is the same person so he listed her twice int he family group. I have them on my database as he does.
Hi Moises. Do you know when did Clemente die?
I see some people put 1717 in Mier but it's kmpossible as he asked lands in Sabinas in 1740. Need to be after that time.
You’re right, Mier was not founded until 1753. I don’t have a birth date for him.
