This post is about the 1757 General Visit of Camargo by Jose Tienda de Cuervo, it includes a link to the original documents.
earlier this month I shared with you the 1757 General Visit of Mier and today I want to share with you the one for Camargo.
Jose Tienda de Cuervo, a knight of the order of Santiago, arrived in Mier on July 12, 1757, to inspect the town upon the request of Viceroy de las Amarillas.
The purpose of this post is to share with you the link to the original documents of the visit. The documents are in Spanish but the good thing is that they have transcribed them so you can use google translate to read them, that is if you don't know Spanish.
The records are being shared by the Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico in their project titled "Poblar el Septentrion"
My favorite part of this document is that it contains a census of the whole community. It is nice to see the names of our ancestors. It also contains several signatures.
One of them is that of the Captain of Camargo, Blas Maria de la Garza Falcon.
Here it is:
To the best part here is the link to the document so you can see it for yoruself.
