1680 Baptism of Thomasa de Villarreal
Last Names of Nuevo Leon

This is the May 28, 1680, baptism of Thomasa de Villarreal, my 7th great grandmother, who was baptized in the Capilla of the Hacienda de San Francisco, nowadays Apodaca, Nuevo Leon, Mexico.

The baptism was registered in the sacramental books of the Monterrey cathedral. At the time of the baptism the hacinda was the property of Sargento Mayor Blas de la Garza.

This record mentions that her parents are Diego de Villarreal and Thomasina Flores. Thomasa is also registered with the name of Thomasina but she simply appears as Thomasa in many other records.

Also it is interetin to note that Villarreal was spelled VillaRL in this record. Another thing to note is that another baby, Jacinta, was also registered with her.

I entered her and her parents into my database along with the padrinos who are husband and wife.

Thomasa grows up to marry Nicolas de Treviño.

Here is the transcription of the above image.

  1. If I did not confuse myself with the marriages and repetition of names, I am a descendant of Tomasa's half brother Joseph Villarreal. Joseph is the son of Diego Villarreal and his first wife Maria Josefa Garza.
