This post is about the 1757 General Visit of Revilla by Jose Tienda de Cuervo, it includes a link to the original documents.
Last month I shared with you the 1757 General Visit of Mier and Camargo, today I want to share with you the one for Revilla.
Jose Tienda de Cuervo, a knight of the order of Santiago, arrived in Revilla on July 17, 1757, to inspect the town upon the request of Viceroy de las Amarillas.
The purpose of this post is to share with you the link to the original documents of the visit. The documents are in Spanish but the good thing is that they have transcribed them so you can use google translate to read them, that is if you don't know Spanish.
The records are being shared by the Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico in their project titled "Poblar el Septentrion"
My favorite part of this document is that it contains not one but two censuses of the whole community. One does nto list the names of the children or servants but the other one does.
It also contains several signatures.
One of them is that of the Captain of Revilla, Joseph Baez Benavides.
Here it is:
Here is the best part, the link to the document.
