See You at RootsTech
Last Names of Nuevo Leon

I am happy to announce that I will be a speaker at the upcoming RootsTech conference in Salt Lake City. You can read more about it in this post.

RootsTech will be taking place March 2-4, 2023.

The event will be held both as an in-person event and as a virtual event. To register for either or visit: https://www.familysearch.org/rootstech/event/rt2023

I was contacted by Rodolfo Derbez to make two presentations. He asked for me to talk about my books and about Las Villas del Norte (the we are cousins communtiy premium group). Specially, how both came about and how they can help anyone with roots in South Texas and Northeastern Mexico find their ancestors.

So these are the Titles of my two presentations and their Descriptions.

Presentations for RootsTech

1. Title: Last Names of Nuevo Leon - A Book Series

Summary: One of the earliest and oldest cities in Northeastern Mexico is Monterrey with its founding in 1596. With it, the New Kingdom of Leon was established, and it later became the Mexican state of Nuevo Leon. With this presentation, attendees will learn about the book series "Last Names of Nuevo Leon" which focuses on identifying and publishing genealogy books about the progenitors of the many last names found in the state of Nuevo Leon, Mexico whose descendants settled in Nuevo Leon, Coahuila, Tamaulipas, Texas, and beyond. Attendees will also learn how these books can help in their research.

2. Title: Las Villas del Norte, An Education and Research Tool

Summary: Founded in 2015, Las Villas del Norte Genealogy Group has become an educational hub and research tool. With this presentation, attendees can learn how Las Villas del Norte can help them grow their genealogy skills and learn how to use a genealogy database that contains 1,035,243 persons. The bulk of the people in the database are from Nuevo Leon, Tamaulipas, Coahuila, and South Texas. It also contains information on people from Zacatecas, Jalisco, Mexico City, and Spain.

I will be presenting both presentations on March the 4th. If you are attending the in-person event make sure to say hi.

If you are not and are attending virtually, I agreed to have my presentations recorded. Once I find out that they are available I will email you. So make sure to join our mailing list here: Join Mailing List
