1802 Death Record of Jose Juan Pantaleon Izaguirre
Last Names of Nuevo Leon

This is the November 15, 1802, Death Record of Jose Juan Pantaleon Izaguirre who died in Mier, Tamaulipas, Mexico. He is my 7th great-grandfather.

I have an issue with this record, let me explain why. I first came across Jose Juan Pantaleon's death date on the book "Mier Church Death Records 1767-1903 Book 2 Her-Z" Pg. 241.

Here is a cut out of the book.

Looks great, I found the record and you can see it above this post. The issue that I have is that the record states that the record is for Juan de Leon who was the widow of Gertrudis Vela.

I think that whomever extracted the record assumed that it was for Juan Pantaleon Isaguirre. Are they wrong? Did the priest make a mistake and wrote de Leon instead of Pantaleon.

Juan Pantaleon was indeed married to a Gertrudis Vela who died August 1, 1789.

For now, I left the date on my database as belonging to Juan Pantaleon but made a note that the record may not belong to him. Further research needs to be done.
