The Alanis book is a 450-page book that contains nine generations of descendants of Francisco Alanis and Isabel de la Barrera. Francisco entered el Nuevo Reino de Leon (Nuevo Leon) prior to 1674. On that year him and his wife baptized their child Lorenzo Alanis in Monterrey. Francisco is the progenitor of the Alanis surname in Coahuila, Nuevo Leon, Tamaulipas, and Texas. This book contains information from the 1670s through the early 1900s.
Through my research and that of Don Guillermo Garmendia Leal I have only been able to find three children for Francisco and Isabel.
I searched the archives of Monterrey for any mentions of Francisco and could not find any. Everything about his life and parentage is unknown. The only mention of him is in his son’s baptism records in Monterrey in 1674 and 1677.
His wife is only mentioned in the two baptism records and in a marriage dispensation. The parents of Isabel are Francisco Sanchez de la Barrera and Maria Duran Uscanga. Her father Francisco Sanchez was born about 1603 in Villa de Lepe, Marquesado de Ayamonte, Castilla, Spain. It is very likely that her mother was born in Monterrey.
I wish I had more to tell you about the background of Francisco and Isabel, but unfortunately due to the lack of records this is all I have.
I truly hope that you find this book useful in your research. Also keep in mind that this book is just a tool, it is still your responsibility to find copies of records and verify my work. In this, I have attempted to include citations for every fact listed in this book so that you may know where my information came from and for you to find records faster.
Also this book does not include every descendant of theirs since that is impossible, it only includes the ones that I have identified through documents, reliable published, and unpublished works.
