This is the 1668 marriage record of Gabriel de la Garza and Petronila de Renteria, who got married in what is now Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico. Gabriel is my 8th great grandfather.
Petronila is not my ancestor since I descend from Gabriel through a later marriage of his to Clara de la Garza.
This document is interesting since it spells out Treviño as Tremiño and Villarreal as Villa Real.

Thank for sharing. de La Garza and Petronla are my ancestor – 11th generation. As I read the Spanish text, they married July, 12th, 1688? I have August, 17th which must be wrong.

I have been wanting to message you since you 1st posted this in regards to your Renteria ancestors,
I have a great-grandmother Maria Renteria or Maria Elena Renteria, born apprx. 1885-1889, supposedly to Jose Patricio Recio Hernandez. He was born March 06, 1881 in Nuestra Señora del Refugio, Matamoros, Coahuila, Mexico. Maria died on March 11, 1921 in Orange, Orange, California.
My grandmother, her daughter, Petra Renteria Hernandez was supposedly adopted by Patricio. She was born in 1899 and story goes Maria was 11 yrs old when she had Petra.
My problem is I have looked and looked and I can't narrow down the right Maria Renteria or Hernandez.
Can't find any marriage records in Mexico or Texas. Maria and Patricio met in Texas and had 3 children there besides my grandmother Petra. Then moved to California around 1916-1920.
I find census records in California and Texas, and death record, but with little information. My grandmother Petra always told me and other people that she was born in Las Cruces, New Mexico and then another time she mentioned Hidalgo. I can find records on her after she married and moved to California. She married a Jose Merced Leon Cabrera from Guanajuato, Mexico, they married in El Paseo, Texas. I never new she had brothers and sisters because she never spoke of her family. My grandmother Petra was of indian and black mix. And I was told that Patricio was also.
Any information would be greatly appreciated.
